Upcoming Assignments and Activities in Our Room

It is fast and furious here in Team Elson land!
Please take note of what we are working on for the next few weeks.
1.  LITERACY - this week we are completing a mini narrative about our March Break, or Our 3 Wishes.  We will be looking at children's stories and practicing our read aloud.  The assignment to go along with our story includes identifying all of our reading strategies.  Check out our Google Classroom for further information.
2.  MATH - Measurement continues for a few more weeks.  We are receiving perimeter and area and will move on to surface area, volume and area of a trapezoid and composite (irregular) shapes.

Please remember to come to class prepared with writing tools and indoor shoes that are appropriate for gym class.

NEWS

Here are some announcements for our class in the upcoming days.
Students should continue to read 20 minutes (minimum) at home nightly.
We are having a Dance-a-thon on Friday, March 11th and students are encouraged to bring in pledges to support our school initiatives (purchasing more computers, Chrome books, iPads, etc. sports equipment and class trips).
Health posters (digital, or paper) are due March 7th.  These posters should show at least 1 safety precaution when working online.
Please bring in a children's story from home.  We are continuing our work with narratives and we will be creating our own children's narrative stories (using a really cool website) and then reading a children's story out loud for a portion of our oral mark in literacy.

Guest Speaker

Today a guest speaker for the Youth Wellness Network gave an inspirational speech to our students at Tay.
Some of the messages discussed involved positive mind set and thinking to change your reality.  OPTIMISM is NOT a GIFT.  OPTIMISM is a CHOICE.
