Frindle
Our first read aloud this year has been Frindle, by Andrew Clements. We have enjoyed the funny characters and we understand that language changes over time. For example words that we said as toddlers may not have meaning to other people, other than our family. Also that some words are not appropriate in today's society. We also learned the power of language to make a change and become a leader within school.
Currently we are working on Logos and creating our own Frindle Logos and soon our own personal Logos.

POETRY
In Literacy we are working with a variety of poems. We are learning to write rhyming couplets, shape poems and an acrostic poem. Our students will also be choosing a favourite poem to share orally with their classmates.
Poems are an excellent way to help with reading fluency and oral speaking. especially when they have rhyming words!

The character trait for the month of March was INTEGRITY. Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. It means doing the right thing - even when no one is looking. Congratulations to the two students who demonstrated this quality this month!
