SUBTRACTING INTEGERS

We are working on SUBTRACTING integers and various strategies to make this a reality.  We can use a number line (remember to change the direction if you have a double negative) and using the OPPOSITE ADDITION STATEMENT to complete subtraction.  For example, if the question is        5 - (-3) = 5 + (+3) is the opposite addition statement and therefore the answer is (+8).
