Week of May 1st

Monday, May 1st our school will celebrate the official opening of the Paul Delaney room with an assembly and the remainder of the day will be Me to We sessions.  Our version of Me to We Day includes 3 40 minute sessions about topics that cover the world.  Topics are to show how one person can make a difference in the world.

MATH - we have just finished practicing addition and subtraction with larger numbers (to thousands).  We will be moving on to a review of multiplication and division for the next few weeks.

LITERACY - We are continuing to work with poetry and the reading strategy of SYNTHESIZING (aka using all of our reading strategies to put together information from the text).  this week we will be creating our own poems about ourselves, "The Best PArt of Me."

SOCIAL STUDIES - We are continuing our overview of 5 ancient civilizations (Ancient China, Egypt, Rome, Greece, Mesopotamia and the Middle Ages).  Our culminating task will be to create either a 3-D model (diorama), or a Minecraft version of one of these civilizations.

CAMP KITCHI - Camp Kitchi is rapidly approaching.  Please complete all paperwork and send in the payment ASAP.  We go to camp on Tuesday, May 16th until Thursday, May 18th.
